How it all started…
Mad Gravel is a creation of Rattler Racing. In 2020, we moved the inaugural Mad Gravel from Salida to the McNeil Ranch at Peaceful Valley in Elbert County. After the 2021 event, Boy Scouts of America allowed us to utilize the beautiful grounds over the entire Memorial Day weekend. In late 2022, we were approached by Kris and Steve Johnson and they pitched an idea to bring the “Hemi” to our event in honor of their son, and in 2023, the Hemi was introduced. We have seen amazing growth since and look forward to building the festival concept over the next few years. Our crew has been hosting mountain bike, gravel and cyclo-cross races since 2015 throughout Colorado. We take pride in putting on successful and memorable events. To do that, we surround ourselves with the best. From announcing, to accurate timing, to fast and competent medics, to course details and signage. We think every detail through. Most importantly, it’s not a race without the festivities at the end.
McNeil Ranch at Peaceful Valley is in a scenic and unique part of Colorado. It was an easy decision for us to bring a great gravel experience to the area and offer up some great course options. We’re excited to be hosting Mad Gravel again in 2025. Please be sure to contact us about any questions you have about the event.
